Smiles for Life: A National Oral Health Curriculum for Primary Care Providers


Description

Smiles for Life is a comprehensive oral health curriculum for primary care clinicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, students, and educators. The set of courses, available online or for download, is designed to enhance the role of primary care clinicians in the promotion of oral health for all age groups through the development and dissemination of high-quality educational resources.

The modules include the following:
  • The relationship of oral to systemic health
  • Child oral health
  • Adult oral health
  • Acute dental problems
  • Oral health and the pregnant patient
  • Caries risk assessment, fluoride varnish, and counseling
  • The oral examination
  • Geriatric oral health

The Smiles for Life Web site also provides resources such as pocket cards, a smartphone application, posters, videos, and more.
