With successful implementation in 426 counties, 34 states, and an operating run of over 15+ years this innovation is a powerful indicator of how nurses can promote lasting change within communities. Theses programs have shown to improve pregnancy outcomes and promote improvements in a numbers of maternal, child health and social markers; a conclusion is only strengthened by three separate randomized controlled trials. Better yet, research has shown long-term positive effect for participants and their children.
