MRSA Toolkit for Middle and High Schools


Description

This toolkit was created to help prevent the spread of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in middle and high schools. MRSA is a type of Staphylococcus aureus (Staph) infection on the skin that is resistant to treatment with antibiotics. Doctors are seeing more patients with MRSA who have not stayed in hospitals or nursing homes, indicating the infection is being transmitted in community settings, such as schools.

The materials in the MRSA toolkit are targeted to three groups:
  • Athletic department
  • Health team (including school nurses, parents, students, and teachers)
  • School custodian
