Ronald T. Ackermann

Ronald T. Ackermann, MD, MPH

Dr. Ackermann is a general internist and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He focuses on the development and evaluation of "partnered" approaches for preventing and managing chronic health conditions, particularly diabetes. Dr. Ackermann assisted the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in developing a Web "toolkit" to help community groups and health care practices build partnerships for local interventions in order to improve the control and prevention of chronic diseases. He is also involved in pilot studies to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing a diabetes prevention program in community-based YMCA settings.

Dr. Ackermann has recently published articles in such journals as Diabetes Care, Diabetes Education, and the Milbank Quarterly. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine, and he did his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
